Abstract/Summary
The trench evaluation covered all land where the proposed development will create an impact thorugh soil moving operations. Trenches were particularly targeted to the south east of Storefield Lodge Farm where the geophysical survey indicated the presence of below-ground archaeology. One specific area of archaeological potential was identified. These trenches indicated the presence of presvious settlement activity. The pottery from some features identified settlement activity of Iron Age date. Similar pottery was recovered from a linear ditch which appears to define the western extent of the identified activity. Evidence of past agricultural activity was identified in the form of relic ridge and furrow albeit, this has been impacted upon as a result of modern day ploughing. Few other features of archaeological interest were identified.
