Abstract/Summary
Desk based assessment on an area of land of approx 4.6ha in advance of development. The study found that no archaeological remains are known from within the development area. A protected site (Hunsbury Hill Iron Age hillfort) is located close by to the south west, a Roman settlement may have lain on the northern boundary of the development site, and remains from the prehistoric to modern period are recorded in the area. Sources consulted show that open fields occupied the development area until the late 19th century when the site was largely quarried. By 1926 the site was in use as allotments.
