Abstract/Summary

Although heavy growth denied access to the entire scheme, prospection revealed part of a relict medieval farming landscape over an area of approx 5.6ha within three fields. Two ridge and furrow cultivation schemes were defined at approx right angles between field 1 and the other two fields. Fields 1 and 2 are currently separated by a drain. The drain is believed to divert water into the Slade Brook from a possible former stream identified between the two fields. A possible ditch of unknown purpose was identified in field 1. The survey revealed part of a relict medieval farming landscape. Two ridge and furrow cultivation schemes were identified. A possible ditch was also identified.
