Abstract/Summary

Northamptonshire Archaeology carried out a desk-based assessment of the historic resource for Elm Bank, Northampton Road, Kettering. The work was conducted on behalf of Elm Bank Properties Ltd prior to any decisions for the future of the site being considered. The site contains a house built c 1984 with ancillary structures along with later additional buildings within the former grounds. The house, designed by the local architect J.A.Gotch, is listed Grade II. The documentary evidence indicates that the site was first developed in the late 19th century, the map evidence indicating that until that time the area had been open fields.
