Abstract/Summary

In April 2010 ASC carried out historic building recording of elements of Church Cottage, Overthorpe as a condition of planning permission for the redeveloment of the building. The cottage, which is grade II listed, is stone built under a thatched roof and has been modernised and extended in the 20th century. The area of particular interest for the purposes of this report was the partition wall between the southern bedroom and the landing and the associated door. The partition was seen to have been initially built in the 19th century and a new frame and plasterboard added to it in the later 20th century. The latch on the plank and batten door is probably 18th century, although the door itself is likely to be mid-late 19th century. The door frame moulding is of a simple style that could be of almost any date.
