Abstract/Summary

Northamptonshire Archaeology conducted an archaeological desk-based heritage assessment of land at the former Kingswood School, Corby, Northamptonshire. There are no designated assets within the site boundary or in the wider vicinity. Evidence of Iron Age and Roman activity has been identified during the development of the surrounding area. The closest such evidence was located immediately to the south of the site. The site was situated within Rockingham Forest during the medieval period and was part of a large clearing known as Beanfield Lawn. The former school buildings will have damaged or destroyed archaeological remains in the central part of the site, but it is considered that archaeological remains dating to the Iron Age and/or Roman period may survive in undisturbed parts of the site.
