Abstract/Summary
Northamptonshire Archaeology conducted an archaeological desk-based heritage assessment of land at the former Maplefields School, Kettering, Northamptonshire. There are no designated assets within the site boundary or in the wider vicinity. The site lies close to the cemetery associated with Kettering Roman town. The size cemetery is only known from a scattering of burials found during the development of the area in the early 20th century and it is possible that it extends further south into the south. The site was part of the open fields during the medieval and post-medieval periods and the school was built between 1900 and 1926. Construction of the school buildings will have damaged or destroyed any archaeological remains. However, archaeological deposits may survive in other parts of the site.
