Abstract/Summary

English Heritage wish to make a number of improvements to Kirby Hall, Gretton, Northamptonshire (NGR SP 92543 92675), including the refurbishment of the West Range, the removal of the visitor centre and toilet facilities, the construction of a new sewage treatment plant and changes to other services and drains, as well as widening the access road and extending the car park. This Desk Based Assessment provides an overview of the historical and archaeological remains in the area, focussing primarily upon specific areas of development and thereby can be used to inform decisions on the proposed development. It has identified a number of buildings and features related to the Hall and gardens, as well as information on the earlier medieval village.
