Abstract/Summary

Northamptonshire Archaeology was commissioned by RDC Development Consultants, on behalf of their client Orbit Homes, to carry out a desk-based assessment on land east of Midland Road, Thrapston, in particular the extent of previous quarrying in the area. The assessment indicated that the quarried areas are now covered in woodland. There is the possibility that features of Iron Age date may lie within the eastern area together with remnants of medieval ridge and furrow field cultivation. To the west are the remains of the old railway station and its now demolished buildings.
