Abstract/Summary

This assessment provides a description of heritage assets potentially affected by the proposed residential development of the site, and addresses the information requirements of the NPPF. The assessment establishes that there are no designated heritage aseets within the site and that development within the site will not affect the significance of any designated heritage asset in the surrounding area. There are no non-designated heritage assets recorded within the site. Medieval open field cultivation ridge and furrow earthworks are recorded to the southwest of the site, and the site itself is shown to have also formed part of the medieval open field. However, as a result of modern ploughing and cultivation, no earthwork evidence of the medieval cultivation survives. Any surviving below ground evidence of ridge and furrow is considered to retain no archaeological interest. Evidence from the surrounding area suggests that the site has a low potential for other archaeological assets of all periods. It is considered that the proposed development of this site is unlikely to have a significant archaeological impact due to the limited archaeological potential and the extent of impact from past ploughing.
