Abstract/Summary
A detailed gradiometry survey was conducted over approx 17.5ha of agricultural land. The area surrounding the site had a number of recorded monuments and find spots, all of a Roman origin. Within the survey area, a large number of clear positive anomalies have been identified as being of archaeological origin. These include linear, curvilinear and circular features, concentrated in the southern and central sections of the survey area. There are also a number of linear anomalies, possibly indicating cut features and negative linear features indicative of banks or earthworks. The concentrated nature of these anomalies and overlapping relationships is indicative of multi-period settlement. Ridge and furrow ploughing is also present across the whole site, as well as pipes/ services, areas of magnetic disturbance and areas of natural geological variation.
