Abstract/Summary
Geophysical survey had found evidence of two linear anomalies, tentatively interpreted as a possible enclosure. A ditch found during the evaluation produced animal bone, pottery and a possible loomweight of late Bronze Age to Iron Age date. Further trenching revealed a second ditch, perpendicular to the first, and roughly matching up with the geophysical survey results. The pottery was very abraded and there was very limited charcoal and charred grain, leading to the suggestion that the pottery was not in its primary context and the ditch was located some way from settlement. The loomweight, however, appeared to be in its primary context as it lay on the base of the ditch.
