Abstract/Summary

An archaeological desk-based assessment has been prepared for land to the rear of properties on Cranford Road, Barton Seagrave, Northamptonshire (SP 90286 76474) by University of Leicester Archaeological Services (ULAS). The assessment was commissioned by Insight Town Planning Ltd in advance of the proposed development of the site. The proposed development Site has potential for evidence of prehistoric activity as it lies 100 metres to the north of a possible Iron Age settlement, and in an area containing cropmarks of possible Iron Age date. There is some potential for Roman remains, although the closest known Roman activity lay over 0.5km away. There is low potential for medieval and post-medieval activity.
