Abstract/Summary

Archaeological observation, investigation and recording was undertaken during the excavation of foundation trenches for an extension to the existing domestic building at 29 Newland Street, Braybrooke, Northamptonshire, Planning Application No. KET/2013/0774. The HER records indicate that the site lies in the area of the historic settlement, mentioned in folio 222 of the Domesday Book. The scheme of archaeological observation, investigation and recording is in accordance with the National Planning Policy Framework (Section 12 Enhancing and Conserving the Historic Environment) and also addresses the requirements of Kettering Borough Council as set out in Condition 9 of the consented application. No deposits or features of clear archaeological origin were located. The archive will be held the University of Leicester Archaeological Services (ULAS) under the Accession No. ENN 107904, until a preferred deposition location for Northamptonshire archives is established.
