Abstract/Summary

benefiting from complicated but unusually extensive documentation held in Northampton and Oxford, this small later 17th century Grade II listed cottage was initially probably built off Eydon's Wakelyn Manor precinct wall. For all of its life it has been physically linked to that manor, and intimately connected with that building and its neighbour at Ward's Cottage, probably sharing accesses and uses for much of that time, including some of the period c1803-1910 as part of a public house or inn. It was altered and extended in the 18th-19th centuries and at the time of writing has been empty for at least 50 years. Its roof is modern.
