Abstract/Summary
In August 2015 KDK Archaeology Ltd undertook a programme of Observation and Recording of 5 Burcote Road, Wood Burcote, Northamptonshire as Conditions 9.18 and 9.19 of the Planning Consent for the development of the site. After stripping the development area, eight archaeological features were uncovered; a cobbled pathway, a dumped deposit, and six postholes. Approximately six tree boles were observed spread across the site, in addition to a modern soakaway. The soakaway, the cobbled pathway, and the dumped deposit all contained modern finds, with the possibility that the soakaway and dumped deposit are contemporary. The cobbled pathway may have existed up until 1977, when the development site was amalgamated with Bank Cottage to the west. The six postholes uncovered may relate to previous structures or fence lines, although as there is no cartographic evidence for a structure in this area, an obvious arrangement, nor finds associated with any of these postholes, it is difficult to date or phase them.
