Abstract/Summary

An archaeological field evaluation (trial trenching) was carried out on land at 135 Rothwell Road, Desborough, Northamptonshire (SK 8041 8270) by University of Leicester Archaeological Services (ULAS) on 1 May, 2014. Work was undertaken for Green Bean Development Co. Ltd in order to establish the nature, extent, date and significance of any archaeological deposits which may be present, in order that an assessment may be made of the impact of any proposed development on the buried remains. Four trenches were excavated across the site, sampling 3.4%. Overall, the result of the trial-trenching was negative for archaeological activity and topsoil and subsoil deposits survived undisturbed across the site, their varying thickness most likely due to colluvial processes. The full archive will be retained by ULAS under the accession number NH-RRD2014 pending the provision of an appropriate recipient body.
