Abstract/Summary
Marina Cottage is an early-C19 lock keeper's cottage which stands close to the designated flight of narrow boat canal locks at Watford, in the Daventry District of Northamptonshire. The flight of locks was managed from both the top and bottom of the flight, with accommodation for lock keepers in both locations. The lock keeper's cottage at the bottom of the flight is listed at Grade II and the applicant believes that the contemporary dwelling at the top of the flight merits listing too. After examining the available records and other relevant information and having carefully considered the architectural and historic interest of this case, the criteria for listing are not fulfilled. Marina Cottage, located near the flight of canal locks at Watford, Northamptonshire, is not of special interest in a national context to merit listing.
