Abstract/Summary

MOLA Northampton conducted an archaeological desk-based assessment of land at London Road, Little Irchester, Northamptonshire. The site lies to the south of the 19th century hamlet of Little Irchester. It occupies an undeveloped area between post-medieval industrialised Wellingborough to the north-west and extensive 19th century ironstone and limestone quarrying to the east and south. The Roman town of Irchester lies to the north-east. There is little evidence of settlement before the 19th century. Excavations at Victoria Business Park to the north revealed only unstratified finds dating to the prehistoric, Roman and post-medieval periods.
