Abstract/Summary

An archaeological strip, plan and sample excavation was carried out by University of Leicester Archaeological Services (ULAS) at Barn Farm, Weston by Wellend, Northamptonshire, SP 769 913. The work was commissioned in advance of the development of the site for a new agricultural building. The site which currently serves as pasture land for Barn Farm lies within a previously identified Roman marching camp. An area of 0.84 hectares was investigated. The topsoil across the site consisted of silty-loam, over a subsoil of silty-clay. The natural sub-stratum across the site was light yellow brown clay The archaeological strip, plan and sample excavation revealed only post medieval plough furrows, and no significant archaeological features were observed. The site archive will be held by ULAS under the event number ENN108250 until archive deposition facilities become available.
