Abstract/Summary

A detailed gradiometry survey was conducted over approximately 4.1 hectares of grassland within Ditchford Reserve Local Wildlife Site, to the west of Rushden Lakes development. No probable archaeological anomalies have been detected. A small number of possible backfilled pits have been detected, though their exact origin cannot be determined with confidence. A series of positive linear anomalies and areas of enhanced response may be archaeological, though it is equally possible that they are a result of agricultural activity. Evidence of ridge and furrow cultivation across the site suggests it has a largely agricultural past. The remaining features are natural or modern and include an underground service and areas of magnetic disturbance.
