SNN110756 - Land at Burcote Road, Towcester, Northamptonshire: Report on an Archaeological Evaluation, 2015

Bellway Homes wishes to redevelop land adjacent to Burcote Road, Towcester. The site is bounded by Burcote Fields to the west, Jenkinson Road to the east, agricultural land to the south and Burcote Road Industrial Estate to the north. The work has been undertaken following a successful planning application (S/2012/1285/MAF). The intention of the investigation was to gain an understanding of the presence and survival of any archaeological remains on the site. This information will be used to facilitate the formulation of a mitigation strategy. Seven trial/evaluation trenches measuring 30m x 1.8m were excavated in a pre-set pattern. The trench evaluation has demonstrated that no archaeological remains appear to be present within the proposed development site. No finds or features of archaeological significance were discovered.
