Abstract/Summary
MOLA (Museum of London Archaeology) was commissioned by Keepmoat Homes to carry out a series of archaeological evaluation and mitigation works on land at the former Kingswood School, Corby Northamptonshire, prior to the proposed residential development of the site. This comprised the excavation of 15 trenches over two phases of evaluation, a subsequent area of archaeological observation, investigation, recording, analysis and publication and an area of archaeological excavation. Principal archaeological remains included ditches, pits and a well relating to the periphery of an Iron Age settlement. Key finds included a moderate assemblage of Iron Age pottery, evidence of metalworking and a fragmented copper finger ring.
