Abstract/Summary
A programme of archaeological observation and recording was undertaken by MOLA (Museum of London Archaeology) between the 5th and 13th September 2016 during groundworks at The Yews, 24 High Street, Gretton, Northamptonshire. The Grade II listed house was part of a larger building, dating to the 17th century with 18th and 19th century modifications. An estate map dating to 1587 depicts a building at its location, possibly the current house. During the excavation of the kitchen floor due to oil contamination, an undated possible foundation cut for the building was found beneath the flagstone floor.
