Abstract/Summary

An archaeological strip, map and sample excavation was carried out by University of Leicester Archaeological Services (ULAS) at Hill Farm, Northampton Road, Brixworth, Northamptonshire. The work was commissioned by Dr Dallas Burston in advance of the proposed development of the site for a new caravan and campsite. The site currently forms part of an agricultural field of 5 hectares, with Pitsford Reservoir to the east and the Country Park visitor centre to the south. Three areas were stripped covering the two proposed buildings and the caravan park area during the course of the archaeological investigation. However no archaeological remains were identified and no artefacts recovered from any of the trenches. As Northampton County Council is currently unable to receive archives, the site archive will be held by ULAS under the site code NH_HFB 2014 until such facilities become available.
