Abstract/Summary

In October 2016 KDK Archaeology Ltd undertook an archaeological evaluation at the Former St Edmund’s Hospital, Wellingborough Road, Northampton. The hospital formed part of the Northampton Union Workhouse which was developed in 1836/37. Five trenches were located within the footprint of the proposed development, or as close to it as was practicable, constituting approximately a 2.5% sample of the site. No archaeological features or finds were observed during this evaluation prior to the modern developments.
