Abstract/Summary

An historic building survey at Level 2 was undertaken by the University of Leicester Archaeological Services (ULAS) on the 7th of June 2016 at the former White Lion Inn, 1 High Street, Moulton, Northamptonshire. The survey studied the now disused unlisted public house which has planning permission to convert it into two domestic dwellings. The two storey main building dates from the mid to late 19th century and consists of two main components. The eastern half of the present building appears to have formed a small room with an attached cart shed which may be associated with a farm within the village core. The western half of the building formed the original part of the White Lion Inn which included a small domestic area. The two buildings were combined to create a larger public house in the second half of the 20th century. The buildings have undergone a significant level of rebuilding and alterations throughout their history up to the present day. The report and archive will be deposited under Event Number ENN18374
