Abstract/Summary

A Roman corn-drying kiln with an E-shaped flue structure dated to the 4th century AD, was excavated in 1962 by Robert Hollowell. Comparisons are made to other excavated examples, including Stanion Roman villa. In the 1970s the site was reopened and the structure was consolidated. It was open to public view into the early 1980s, and was then reburied.
