Abstract/Summary

A geophysical survey was undertaken by Allen Archaeology Limited for Ecus Limited on a 1.4ha area of land off Brigstock Road, Stanion, Northamptonshire. The survey was undertaken in support of a planning application for a residential development. ·There is evidence for Roman, Anglo-Saxon and medieval activity in the vicinity of the site, with a major Roman road, Gartree Street, recorded approximately 500m to the south. The survey identified a few linear anomalies of potential archaeological interest, but the survey was dominated by a service running directly through the centre of the site from the northwest to the southeast. The strength of the signal from this anomaly was sufficient to obscure approximately 30% of the total survey area.
