Abstract/Summary

Archaeological excavation was undertaken at All Saints Church, on the footprint of a proposed extension and along associated service trenches to the north of the church. Many of the burials encountered relate to the late medieval and post medieval usage of the graveyard. However, two burials had stones placed around the head, an early medieval burial practice that is likely to pre-date the Norman Conquest. The deepest burials, beyond the proposed foundations of the extension, were left in situ.
