Abstract/Summary

A detailed magnetic gradiometer survey was undertaken for Witham Archaeology in connection with a proposed development on land off High Street, Syresham, Northamptonshire. The survey totalled c. 1.2ha. The survey recorded evidence of ridge and furrow agriculture across the majority of the site. The layout of which would indicate the previous existence of two separate fields, with the furrows on the eastern half of the site c.5m apart and the ones in the western half at c.9m intervals. Whilst several discrete positive responses might represent isolated pit features, these are not strong responses and are difficult to interpret on the basis of form alone
