Date/Year 2016

Abstract/Summary

A watching brief was maintained during the demolition of Astrop Grange in order to record features of historic or architectural significance that had not been previously exposed or accessible. The roof structure indicates a date earlier than previously thought, probably between 1565 and 1640. A fireback depicting Charles II defeating Cromwell and dating to the second half of the 17th century, was also discovered.
