Abstract/Summary
This report forms an addendum to a foregoing report on the premises of the Grade II-Listed former Vulcan Works, 36 Guildhall Road, Northampton (Soden and Walker, 2016). The complex comprises a Victorian shoe industry-related factory with many later additions. Limited stripping out, in part to make the buildings safe, took place after the issue of the abovementioned report. This report sets out the limited remains uncovered in two newly-opened-up spaces, previously labelled G6 and G6a-d in the foregoing report. Prior to stripping out, the two areas, clearly set within a later-19th-century brick shell, had been fitted out with modern plasterboard partitions and dividing walls, also having suspended polystyrene ceilings on metal frames. On the return to the building on 6 December 2018, all of these had been removed and access to the historic brick shell of the two contiguous 1875-85 sheds of Blocks C and D was total.
