Abstract/Summary
During January 2018, Network Archaeology undertook archaeological trenched evaluation in advance of construction of new industrial units with associated access and parking at Foundry Place, Towcester, Northamptonshire (centred on NGR 469164 249404) (Figure 1). The evaluation did not reveal any archaeological features apart from a furrow and a modern soakaway recorded in Trench 2. The trenches revealed layers of buried land surfaces and alluvium containing a finds assemblage that indicates material used for manuring the agricultural topsoils. This activity is dated to the medieval and later periods, but included residual Roman material. A copy of this report will be uploaded to the OASIS database.
