Abstract/Summary

University of Leicester Archaeological Services (ULAS) carried out archaeological observation and recording (watching brief) at the Old Woodyard at the rear of 20 Main Street and an adjacent area to the front of 21/22 Main Street, Marston Trussel, Northamptonshire between October and December 2017, during foundation groundworks for the construction of three properties on the former site, and two properties on the latter site. The excavation of the foundations of the three properties in the Old Woodyard revealed no archaeology. The excavation of the foundations in front of 21/22 Main Street entailed digging into made ground to a depth of approximately 1m. While the excavation here showed evidence of demolition rubble and post medieval pottery, no earlier features of archaeological interest were found. The site archive will be held by ULAS in lieu of deposition with Northamptonshire County Council, under accession number ENN108881.
