SNN111618 - Archaeological trial trench evaluation on land adjacent to Sheepfold Grange, Main Street, upper Stowe, Northamptonshire, September 2018

MOLA undertook archaeological trial trench evaluation on land adjacent to Sheepfold Grange, Upper Stowe. Five trenches were excavated. In Trench 5 a late Iron Age ditch was found, a furrow was excavated in Trench 4 and in trenches 1 and 2 there were post-medieval stone deposits, the latter of which corresponded with the location of a possible kiln as identified by geophysical survey. From the subsoil and topsoil a flint flake, Romano-British pottery, medieval and post-medieval pottery were recovered.
