Abstract/Summary

In May 2015 Archaeological Solutions (AS) carried out archaeological excavation by 'strip, map and sample', recording, analysis and publication of land adjacent to Manor Farm Cottage, Ringstead Road, Denford. The project was commissioned in compliance with a planning condition attached to planning permission for the construction of a dwelling and garage, and the construction of a new access to serve the existing cottage. The Phase 1 report encompasses the new access. The site lies within an area of archaeological potential, in particular for prehistoric and medieval archaeology. Earthworks of medieval date are present on the opposite side of Ringstead Road and a cropmark complex of Iron Age date is present to the west of the site. Within the new access no archaeological features or finds were present.
