Abstract/Summary
Ten window sample cores were put down in June 2018, located to augment data from eleven geotechnical boreholes sunk in 2015. The cores, in conjunction with earlier borehole samples, allowed a reconstruction of the sedimentary history of the site, typical of a Holocene lowland river and floodplain development. A radiocarbon date from organic material infilling an apparent palaeochannel of 4,497-4,257 calBP falls at the start of Bronze Age expansion from c4,450 BP. No cultural material was encountered during the investigation.
