Abstract/Summary

Magnitude Surveys was commissioned to assess the subsurface archaeological potential of a c. 11.20 ha area of land off Harborough Road, Desborough, Northamptonshire. A fluxgate magnetometer survey was successful in detecting anomalies generally associated with agriculture such as historic ridge and furrow cultivation regimes, modern ploughing and drains. Anomalies of former field boundaries and the possible remains of a building were also detected and in the majority identified from historic mapping. A number of linear anomalies detected within the ridge and furrow may present an archaeological interest, although an agricultural origin is likely. Natural features highlighting the topography have also been recorded.
