Abstract/Summary
The archaeological evaluation undertaken on thse two parcels of land revealed a relatively high volume of archaeological features. The trenches in the south field of the eastern area identified postholes, pits and ditches, several of the latter corresponding with geophysical anomalies, and providing a small assemblage of Iron Age pottery. This is likely to represent the continuation of the occupation site identified to the west and confirmed its extension until at least the limit of the field and the edge of the bank of the motorway to the east. A moderate volume of linear features were also uncovered on the attenuation pond/borrow pit area, with at least one of them certainly dated to the late post-medieval period while other features were likely to be of natural origin. Features in the north of the eastern area were furrows. Only the southern half of the eastern area appears to have archaeological potential.
