Abstract/Summary
Magnitude Surveys was commissioned to assess the subsurface archaeological potential of a c. 1.3ha area of Land at Miller’s Way, Middleton Cheney. A fluxgate gradiometer survey was successfully completed across most of the site, however, 0.3ha could not be surveyed due to a pond located at the southern end of the site. The geophysical results are characterised by a large area of strongly enhanced magnetic signal suggestive of debris spread and associated potential structural elements present in the near surface. Small areas of quieter magnetic signal allowed the detection of anomalies of other origin and no anomalies indicative of possible archaeological origins were identified. Anomalies related to historical agricultural use have been detected and interpreted as ridge and furrow cultivation. A couple of anomalies could not be identified and were marked as undetermined.
