Abstract/Summary
Pre-Construct Archaeology was commissioned by Barwood Homes Ltd to undertake an archaeological evaluation at Miller’s Way, Middleton Cheney. The evaluation was required to investigate the potential for archaeological remains ahead of proposed development of 40 dwellings for which a planning application has been submitted to South Northamptonshire Council. Nine trenches were proposed, however only five were opened due to safety constraints and with agreement from the Archaeological Advisor. Within these five trenches no archaeological horizons were recorded, with modern truncation observed to below the original level of the natural substrate across the area of the site. Based on the results of the evaluation trenching it is clear that the site has very limited potential for the survival of archaeological features or deposits.
