Abstract/Summary

Catalogue and discussion of 22 Italic Iron Age pieces (pottery and bronzes), some not previously published. Certain items accepted as genuine ancient imports by other writers are now rejected because they are types not otherwise traded beyond the Mediterranean. A small handful of pieces may be accepted as genuine since they fit into known Etruscan trade patterns of 6th-5th centuries BC, the indications being that SE England was the last point on the Alpine-Rhenish route. This trade ceased c 400 BC and only two or three items later than that, all emanating from E Mediterranean, are likely to be genuine ancient imports
