Abstract/Summary
This report presents the results of an archaeological evaluation carried out by South West Archaeology Ltd. (SWARCH) on land near Bugbrooke, Kislingbury, Northamptonshire, in advance of the construction of a 500KW wind turbine. The location of the proposed turbine had high archaeological potential located within the open Fields of Late Saxon and medieval Kislingbury, enclosed in 1780, and relatively unchanged to today; and in close proximity to a series of Iron Age/Romano-British find spots in the local area. The evaluation identified a single possible Romano-British pit. The abraded scrap of pottery recovered from the feature was very small and in poor condition and given the amount of visible ploughing may be intrusive. Given the depth of truncation by ploughing it is unlikely many if any other features survived outside of the area investigated by the evaluation trench. No substantial or deep features were identified within the evaluation trench.
