Abstract/Summary

An archaeological inspection during the excavation of exploratory trial pits was carried out by University of Leicester Archaeological Services (ULAS) at Mickle Well Park, Ashby Road, Daventry, Northamptonshire (SP 572 654). The work was commissioned by CgMs to provide a record of the pits and any archaeological remains during the excavation of geotechnical trial pits in advance of proposed residential development at the site. Previous archaeological work on the site includes a heritage statement, geophysical survey and evaluation trial trenching. During the attendances a total of 65 pits were excavated within four fields. No archaeological remains were observed during the observations carried out during the excavation of the test pits and no archaeological artefacts were retrieved from the spoil heaps.
