Abstract/Summary
A programme of archaeological observation, investigation and recording, (watching brief) was carried out by University of Leicester Archaeological Services (ULAS) in 2020 on land at Home Farm, The Lane, Weston by Welland, Northamptonshire (SP 776 915), prior to residential development. Work followed the undertaking of a desk-based assessment in 2017, which established that the area is rich in Roman and Iron Age archaeology including the earthworks 900m north-west from the proposed site of a possible Roman fort/marching camp. The site proved to have been subject to heavy disturbance including terracing associated with the construction and subsequent demolition of barns and slurry tanks associated with the farm. No archaeological remains were present. The archive for the work will be deposited with Northamptonshire Museums with event number ENN109675.
