Abstract/Summary
Ian Farmer Associates Archaeological Services carried out an Archaeological Watching Brief during the geotechnical trial pitting and cable percussion boreholes along the proposed route of the Sandy Lane Relief Road (SLRR) from Weedon Road A4500 to the roundabout of Sandy Lane/Berrywood Road, Northampton between February 16th and March 3rd, 2006. The site comprised cultivated land, and can be located between NGR SP 708 602 to the south and SP 705 618 to the north. Although the watching brief has provided an opportunity to examine the principle stratigraphic and physical characteristics of deposits in this area, the investigation has yielded no new archaeological evidence to enhance our understanding of the history of the site.
