Abstract/Summary

MOLA Northampton was commissioned by RPS Consulting Ltd on behalf of their client, to undertake a programme of archaeological evaluation on land at Darsdale Residential Home, Chelveston Road, Raunds, Northamptonshire, prior to the construction of residential properties. The evaluation comprised the excavation of four trenches spread across the footprint of the proposed buildings. The archaeological remains that were identified during this evaluation consisted of a late Iron Age to Roman rectilinear enclosure, and a series of ditches that are likely to be contemporary in date. The remains form further parts of a settlement encountered during archaeological works in 2015 to the south (Reid 2016). A modern waste deposit was also identified in Trench 3.
