Abstract/Summary

MOLA Northampton was commissioned by Segro via RPS Ltd to undertake an archaeological trial trench evaluation at the southern end of the Segro Logistics Park development site in the parish of Courteenhall, Northamptonshire. The evaluation comprised the excavation of 62 trenches dispersed across a proposed Flood Compensation Area associated with the development. Very few features of archaeological interest were identified during the evaluation with most of the archaeological remains relating to medieval ridge and furrow cultivation. The results of the evaluation have confirmed that the site is external to the foci of Iron Age and Roman occupation identified to the north within the proposed development area for the Segro Logistics Park Rail Freight Terminal.
