Title Report on an archaeological evaluation and watching brief at Lower Street, Kettering
Author/Originator
Date/Year 2000

Abstract/Summary

An archaeological desk-based assessment established that there was some potential for archaeologically significant remains to be present within the site, particularly remains of Saxon, medieval or post-medieval occupation along the frontage of Lower Street. In order to give more definition to the archaeological resource within the site, five trial trenches were excavated in the areas of most archaeological potential. No significant archaeological remains were identified. Access to part of the site considered to be of most archaeological interest was restricted by the presence of live electric cables. Therefore the presence of archaeological remains in that area could not be entirely ruled out, although the probability of the presence of such remains was low
